“You’re joking,” Mark said, following Debbie out the door.

“I’m completely serious,” Deb said, tossing her pack into the truck. “It shouldn’t be that hard to get your head around.”

“But five weeks?” Mark said. “That’s insane, you won’t make it five hours.”

“I can handle myself,” Deb said. “Look, I just can’t explain it right now, but I need to do this.”

“You don’t have enough food,” Mark said.

“I’ll fish,” Deb said. “Or I’ll hunt, or forage. It’s not a big deal.”
